A little throwback to last year’s Latiné/x Heritage Month where we had so many visuals dedicated to building knowledge around this month! We are so excited to show you how we are celebrating this year!
What better way to kickoff Latinx Heritage Month than with our very own Brooke scholar Kiana who sang the national anthem @fenwaypark last night?! She sang the Star Spangled Banner so beautifully — HAPPY LATINX HERITAGE MONTH! 🇻🇪
Stay tuned for more celebrations this month!
Ms. Schroll, who is now a Student Support Teacher at Brooke East Boston — started as an Associate Teacher in 2016! She told us what inspired her to continue at Brooke below:
“The program helped me make so much growth and gain so much confidence in my teaching in such a short. The work I did as an Associate Teacher, and then as a lead teacher, set me up for so much success!”
Brooke Scholar Osaru says, “The best part of kindergarten so far is that I learn and sing and I get to see all my teammates. I come to school to grow my brain and I like to learn about math and reading. We can combine numbers to make a new number and we get to learn new things from books. Kindergarten is awesome! You get to have fun with all your other teammates.” #edthataddsup #brookeisdifferent #studentspotlight
This Brooke Kindergartener, is absolutely adoring his first full month in school! He says his teacher, helps him make fun choices while learning wall card sounds and the letters to the alphabet. Recess has to be his favorite part of the day, though, and can we blame him?!
Mr. Demas - our beloved, talented art teacher at Brooke Roslindale was also someone who started as an Associate Teacher back in 2018. Here’s a bit about his inspiration 🖼️ 🎨 🖌️
“What inspires me to work at Brooke is simple, the kids. The connections I was able to make in my Associate Teacher year made me want to continue showing up everyday for our kids. Growing up, I didn’t have a lot of male teachers of color. I feel like my presence in my role as a black man is crucial and can allow students to have another positive role model in their life”
