Mr. Jon Clark

Co-Director, Operations

B.A., Oberlin College
Mr. Clark founded the original Brooke Roslindale middle school in 2002, and he served as school principal until 2011. Currently, he serves as Network Co-Director. Before coming to Brooke, he was a founding teacher at South Boston Harbor Academy (now Boston Collegiate Charter School) where he also served as math department chair for four years. Mr. Clark also taught junior high school math for two years in Belle Chasse, Louisiana and worked as a researcher for a professor of International Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Clark was a 1992 Teach for America corps member.

Ms. Kimberly Steadman

Co-Director, Academics

B.A., Harvard College; J.D., Harvard Law School; M.Ed., Harvard Graduate School of Education
Ms. Steadman joined the Brooke staff in 2004, where she served as a lead teacher, math teacher, and professional development coordinator. She then spent the next school year planning and founding the original Brooke Roslindale elementary school, which opened in August of 2006. Ms. Steadman served as elementary principal from 2006 until 2011; during which she also taught third and fourth grade reading, third grade math, and sixth grade math. Prior to joining Brooke, she worked as a fifth grade teacher for the Chelsea Public Schools and as a fourth grade teacher in Washington, DC. Ms. Steadman was a 1997 Teach for America corps member.

Ms. Hagar Berlin

Chief Development Officer

B.A., Wesleyan University; M.Ed., Stanford University
Hagar Berlin joined Brooke in 2017 as the Chief Development Officer on the Brooke Charter Schools network team. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Berlin had 15 years of fundraising and executive experience at national education non-profits, including Reading Partners, Summer Search and Jumpstart.

Mr. Mark Loring

Chief Operations Officer

B.S., Appalachian State University; MEd, Harvard Graduate School of Education
Mr. Loring joined the Brooke staff in 2017 as the Director of Network Operations. Before he joined Brooke, Mr. Loring was the founding Dean of Operations at Spark Academy, a turnaround middle school in Lawrence, MA. While at Spark, the staff was able to move the school from a level 4 to a level 1 rated school. Prior to his time in school leadership, Mr. Loring taught 4th grade in Redmond, WA and down in Tallulah, LA. Mr. Loring was a 2010 Teach for America corps member and a founding corps member for TFA's Louisiana Delta region.

Ms. Yvette Philip

Chief Financial Officer

B.S., Bentley University, M.S., Bentley University
Yvette Philip joined Brooke in 2014, as the Associate Business Manager on the Brooke Charter Schools Network Team. Ms. Philip is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Philip spent 10 months as the Education Pioneers Data Analyst Fellow at Building Excellent Schools. Prior to her fellowship she was a Senior Financial Analyst at Liberty Mutual and Audit Senior at Deloitte and Touche.

Ms. Molly Cole

Brooke East Boston Founder

B.A. College of the Holy Cross; M.Ed. Harvard Graduate School of Education
Ms. Cole joined the Brooke East Boston team as founding principal after teaching first grade at Brooke Roslindale. Ms. Cole taught first grade as a Teach for America corps member in North Carolina and second grade at a Mastery Charter School in Philadelphia. She earned her Master’s degree in Education Policy and Management from Harvard University.

Ms. Allison Friedmann

Science Department Chair

B.A., Williams College; M.A.T., National Louis University
Allison Friedmann joined Brooke in 2004, as a middle school science teacher in Roslindale. Since then, Ms. Friedmann has taught middle school humanities and third grade. Ms. Friedmann is currently serving as the science curriculum lead for the network. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Friedmann taught science at a high school in Chicago through Teach for America and taught middle school math and science at Uphams Corner Charter School.

Ms. Nicole Grandinetti

Director of Talent Recruitment

B.A., Suffolk University; M.A., Columbia University; B.A., Suffolk University
Nicole Grandinetti joined Brooke in 2016 as a 5th grade teacher at the Roslindale campus. Since then, Ms. Grandinetti taught 4th grade and is currently serving as the Director of Talent Recruitment for the network. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Grandinetti was a 2010 Teach For America Corps Member in the Mississippi Delta and also taught at Achievement First.

Mr. Dan Harris

Director of Data

B.A., Dartmouth College; M.Ed., Rhode Island College
Mr. Harris is excited to be a part of the Brooke Mattapan team as an eighth grade science and math teacher!  After graduating with a degree in Neuroscience from Dartmouth, Mr. Harris taught sixth and eighth grade science in Providence, Rhode Island as a Teach For America corps member. Before becoming the Director of Data, Mr. Harris taught eighth grade math and science at Brooke Mattapan.

Ms. Sarah Holden

Director of College Success and Post Secondary Support

B.A. Wheaton College; M.Ed. Lesley University; CAGS in School Counseling, University of Mass Amherst
Ms. Holden has been the Director of the Office of High School and College Success at Brooke since August 2011. Prior to Brooke, Ms. Holden directed the guidance department at Beach High School, an alternative high school in Watertown. Before starting her career in school counseling, she was a campus director and program manager with Citizen Schools, a national leader in out-of-school time programming.

Ms. Cristie McGrath

Director of Student Support Services

B.A., Arizona State University; M.Ed., Pepperdine University
Ms. McGrath joined the Brooke staff in 2005 as the Dean of Student Life, and she is currently serving as the Director of Student Support. Prior to joining the Brooke staff, she served as the Math Coordinator and sixth and seventh grade Math teacher at a Boston public middle school. She also served as special education department head and taught special education classes at Toll Middle School in Glendale, CA.

Mr. Ivan Rudnicki

Computer Science Department Chair

B.A., Harvard University
Mr. Rudnicki joined Brooke Charter Schools in 2015 as the organization's founding Computer Science Chair, tasked with overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive computer science curriculum for the three Brooke campuses. He brings to this position more than 12 years of experience in educational technology and curriculum development, having co-founded and served as the Associate Director for a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering technology-focused academic enrichment programs for Boston-area youth.

Ms. Christine Davis

Accounting and Payroll Manager

B.S. Business Administration & M.S. Management, Emmanuel College, Boston, MA
Mrs. Davis joined the Brooke team as an Accounting and Payroll Manager on September 18th, 2017.  Prior to joining Brooke, Mrs. Davis worked for Children's Services of Roxbury where she worked in Non Profit Finance and Administration for 16 years.  Mrs. Davis is excited to be part of the Brooke HR and Finance Team!

Ms. Elaine Morgan

Human Resources Manager

Ms. Morgan has worked for Brooke for over ten years, coordinating accounts payable, and most recently administering staff benefits. Prior to joining Brooke, Ms. Morgan worked at Bull HN Technology managing benefits and 401k programs for their staff.

Mr. Chuck Peters

Facilities Manager

Tewksbury High School
Mr. Peters joined the Brooke staff in 2005 as the building manager, supporting the building’s expansion into a full middle school and then the addition of the elementary school. Prior to coming to Brooke, Mr. Peters worked at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton as its building manager and for the Wingate nursing homes.

Ms. Sadie Shea

Associate Teacher Program Manager

B.A., The College of William and Mary; M.Ed., University of Massachusetts Boston
Sadie Shea joined Brooke in 2012 as the Kindergarten Associate Teacher at Brooke Mattapan. Since then, Ms. Shea has taught kindergarten and second grade at Brooke Mattapan. Ms. Shea is currently serving as the Associate Teacher Program Manager for the Brooke network.

Mr. Raul Ripoll Vera

Finance and Operations Associate Manager

B.S. Universidad Abierta Intercamerina; M.S. Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires 
He has worked with non profit organizations since the year 2002. While living in Argentina, he volunteered in several Non Profit Organizations and at the same time he worked at a Nuclear Plant Operator. In 2014, he moved to Santiago de Chile with his family and worked as a Financial Analyst and later as Operations Director at different Chilean Charter School Networks. In the year 2018 he joins Brooke Charter Schools as Operations and Finance Associate Manager.

Ms. Kate Wright Apfelbaum

Kate Wright Apfelbaum joined Brooke in 2018 as a Senior Communications Associate. Prior to joining Brooke, she worked in research and communication for Education Resource Strategies, American Institutes for Research, and the Pioneer Institute.

Trelani Law joined Brooke in 2012 as Finance Associate for Network. She manages receipts, invoices, deposits, checks and purchase orders. Before coming to Brooke, she worked at a daycare for 12 years.
