Ms. Danielle Blair

Principal

B.A., Spelman College; M.Ed., Georgia State University
Ms. Blair joined the Brooke Mattapan campus in 2011 as a fifth grade math and science teacher after teaching fourth grade for two years in Atlanta, GA. She was a 2009 Teach for America corps member. Ms. Blair previously served as Assistant Principal at Brooke Mattapan and completed an Instructional Fellowship to become Principal of the 8th Grade Academy.

Mr. Matt Magoon

Dean of Students

B.A., The College of Wooster
Mr. Magoon graduated from The College of Wooster in 2014 with a degree in English and Education. During his final year in college, Mr. Magoon wrote an "Independent Study Thesis" of fictional short stories inspired by the desegregation of the Boston Public Schools in the 1970's. He joined Brooke Charter Schools as a member of the 2014-2015 Associate Teacher Program. Mr. Magoon taught eighth grade ELA and social studies teacher and Brooke Mattapan before becoming dean of students.

Mr. Corey Yarbrough

Director of Operations

B.A., James Madison University 
Corey Yarbrough joined Brooke in 2016 as the Founding Director of Operations of Brooke High School and 8th Grade Academy. Before coming to Brooke, Corey founded and served as Executive Director of a local non-profit organization for 6 years and managed college prep programs for first generation college-bound students in the New England region.

Ms. Kasey Alfonso

School Psychologist

Prior to joining Brooke Charter Schools, Ms. Alfonso worked at KIPP Austin Texas as a School Psychology Intern. She is passionate about educational reform and enhancing the quality of life for youth. Ms. Alfonso is thrilled to return back to Boston and work with the Brooke team!

Ms. Darneala Sequeira

School Nurse

BSN, Laboure College

Ms. Sequeira joined the Brooke Mattapan team in August 2017 as the school Nurse. Prior to Brooke she worked at the Codman Square Health Center for 12 years. She enjoys being able to help others and has a strong passion for Community Nursing. She is delighted to be a part of the Brooke team.

Ms. Thessa Andrade

English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

B.A., Bridgewater State University 
Ms. Andrade graduated at Bridgewater State University with a major in English, a concentration in Education, and a minor in U.S Indigenous Studies. Her professional life has focused on working with the inner city youth in Brockton, Bridgewater, and Roxbury. She was a dedicated mentor for Friends and Mentors (F.A.M) for Change, an AmeriCorps Alumi, and a former Teaching Fellow with Generation Teach.

Ms. Melinda Casey-Magleby

Math Teacher

B.A. College of the Atlantic; M.A.. University of Chicago; M.A., Harvard Extension School
Melinda Casey-Magleby joined the Brooke Roslindale team in 2006 as a middle school science teacher. Since then, Ms. Casey-Magleby has taught middle school math at Brooke Roslindale and is currently serving as a math teacher at the Eighth Grade Academy. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Casey-Magleby worked at a non-profit in Chelsea and taught at schools in Boston and Chicago.

Mr. Felipe DaCosta

Math Teacher

B.A., Wesleyan University
Felipe DaCosta joined Brooke in 2019 as an algebra and pre-algebra teacher at the 8th Grade Academy. Before coming to Brooke, Felipe spent four years teaching algebra at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone.

Ms. Emmanuella Dorvil

Math and Computer Science Teacher

B.A., The George Washington University
Ms. Dorvil first joined the Brooke team in 2014-2015 school year as an Associate Teacher and then joined the second grade team as a lead teacher. Prior to joining Brooke, she worked as a volunteer coordinating mentoring and tutoring programs for her community. She also volunteered with United Way in the Mercer County working with low income families.  She has experience working with students through Jumpstart, an AmeriCorps program; she also worked as an instructor for a summer robotics program at the University of Maryland. Ms. Dorvil previously taught kindergarten at Brooke Mattapan.

Mr. Jayson Joyce

English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

B.A., Boston College; M.Ed., Boston University
Jayson Joyce joined Brooke in 2015 as a fifth grade teacher at Brooke Roslindale. Since then, Mr. Joyce has moved to teach eighth grade ELA and social studies at Brooke Eighth Grade Academy, where he currently serves. Before coming to Brooke, Mr. Joyce worked on President Obama's and Senator Markey's election campaigns, and he served as a TFA corps member in Chicago.

Ms. Christina Jusino

Science Teacher

Christina Rosa Jusino (Massachusetts TFA ’11) was named to the short and exciting El Mundo Boston's Latino 30 under 30 List for her impact in education and in the professional Latinx community in Boston. Christina has served as an Advanced Educator in the Lawrence Public School system, teaching science at multiple Middle grade levels (6th - 8th) and having also taught 9th grade Biology at Lawrence High School. She co-founded both an Undergraduate and Graduate chapter of her Latina community service sorority (Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc.), was a recipient of the Sontag Prize for Urban Education, is a former Teach Plus Policy Fellow, and was part of the inaugural cohort of the Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship through Latinos for Education.

Mr. Patrick Lanciault

Science Teacher

B.A., University of South Carolina
Patrick Lanciault joined Brooke in 2018 as one of the founding 8th Grade Academy science teachers. Prior to Brooke, Mr. Lanciault taught 6th grade science in Dallas, Texas, 7th grade science at Roxbury Prep Mission Hill, as well as 10th-12th grade ESL in rural Thailand.

Ms. Rebecca Liberty

English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

B.A., SUNY Plattsburgh; M.S.T., SUNY Plattsburgh
Rebecca Liberty joined Brooke in 2019 as an ELA/Social Studies teacher at Brooke Eighth Grade Academy. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Liberty worked as a high school history teacher in the South Bronx for two years.

Jessica Rubin joined Brooke in 2019 as an ELA and Social Studies teacher at 8th Grade Academy. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Rubin served as a City Year Corps Member at Orchard Gardens Pilot School in Roxbury, MA, and then went on to teach for three years at Up Academy Boston.

Ms. Marisa Taylor

English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

B.A., Fairfield University; M.A. Emmanuel College
Before joining Brooke, Marisa worked for 6 years at Uncommon Schools Roxbury Prep as a 5th grade writing teacher, 7th grade ELA teacher, 7th grade Math teacher and Dean of Curriculum and instruction. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, she worked at Mother Caroline Academy fro 2 years as a 7th and 8th grade ELA teacher, 7th grade History teacher, and 6th grade math teacher. Marisa attained her Masters in the Arts of Teaching from Emmanuel College and prior to that studied Film at Fairfield University. Marisa's heart is most full when able she's able to connect for students the decision author's make in books can also be seen and studied in film and television. In her free time, Marisa is constantly trying to read as many books as she can be out doors as much as possible.

Mr. Angel Albelo

Physical Education Teacher

B.S., Bentley University; M.Ed, University of Miami
29Mr. Albelo graduated from Bentley University in 2006 with a degree in Business Management. After graduation, he worked for State Street Bank as a Senior Account Controller and then honorably served four years in the United States Coast Guard as a Machinery Technician. Upon leaving the service, he attended graduate school at the University of Miami where he received a Master of Education degree in Sport Administration. He returned to Massachusetts as a Classroom Assistant for the Darnell School, a private special needs school in Hudson.

Mr. Charles Hughley

Media Literacy and Video Teacher

B.S., M.S., Northeastern University Mr. Hughley attended Northeastern University and studied Media Communications as an undergraduate, and earned a masters degree in Digital Media. Mr. Hughley enjoyed learning media and realized he had an affinity for teaching it as well!

Ms. Darlande Joseney

B.A., University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
Before being blessed with the opportunity to teach at Brooke, she worked with Generation Teach STEAM Academy as a Teaching Fellow for two consecutive summers teaching both 7th and 8th grade. She graduated from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as a Crime and Justice Studies major and Black Studies minor. She fully plans on incorporating the knowledge I have gained through both fields of study into my everyday practices so that my students consistently get the best of me as a person and an Associate Teacher. Dreaming of working of students in this capacity since she was 5, she is overjoyed to be working with Brooke this upcoming year.

Ms. Hannah Kearns

Student Support Coordinator

B.A., University Of Vermont
Ms. Kearns graduated from the University of Vermont in 2017 with a degree in Public Communications. She then taught sixth grade Special Education as a Teach For America Corps Member in San Diego. She decided to move back to the Boston area to be closer to family, and she is absolutely thrilled to be a part of the team at Brooke. She is especially passionate about providing accommodations and supports to achieve equitable access to the curriculum for all students.

Ms. Tova Orenbuch

Student Support Coordinator

B.A., University of Pennsylvania; M.Ed., George Washington University
Tova Orenbuch joined Brooke in 2019, as a Student Support Coordinator for Brooke's Eighth Grade Academy. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Orenbuch had more than nine years of experience teaching science and mathematics in inclusion and special education classes.

Ms. Tanairi Acevedo

Operations Manager

A.S., Bunker Hill Community College
Ms. Acevedo joined Brooke Mattapan as the Office Manager. Prior to coming to Brooke Mattapan, Ms. Acevedo provided maternity leave coverage for the Office Manager at Brooke Roslindale. Before entering the education field, Ms. Acevedo worked as the Head Cake Decorator at Whole Foods (the staff enjoys her talents with food!). She completed her culinary degree at Bunker Hill Community College.

Ms. Rashanda Coplin

Operations Manager

B.A., Fisher College
Prior to joining Brooke in 2016, Ms. Coplin worked in both finance and account management at Hill Holliday Advertising for 4.5 years. She received her B.A in Communication and Media Studies from Fisher College, and is also an alumna of City on a Hill Charter School in Boston, MA.

Ms. Tiffany Fenton

Office Manager and Improv Theater Teacher

B.S., University of Rhode Island
Tiffany T. Fenton is an actress, improviser, and director, who has spent the last decade performing and teaching throughout New England. She is the founder of C.R.E.A.T.E. Yourself, a program dedicated to teaching young people the unique process of self-development and expression using improvisation and theater skills as a guide. She is passionate about bringing her love of the stage to Brooke High students.

Mr. Manuel Lopez

Day Porter

Manuel Lopez relocated from Guatemala to Boston 24 years ago. He began working at Brooke High School and Brooke Mattapan in 2016. He is part of CM General Services who provides maintenance and cleaning for Brooke Charter Schools.
