COVID-19 Resources and Information

In line with Governor Baker’s decision, Brooke Charter Schools will not reopen for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. We will do everything we can to provide the high-quality education our scholars deserve. Principals are sharing more detailed information with families.

Support Brooke Families

With schools closed and all learning taking place at home, our partnership with families is more important than ever. We are raising money to directly support Brooke families hit hardest by COVID-19-related illness or job loss. If you're able to make a donation, our closest donors have volunteered to match your gift. Families who need support will get information from their schools about how to apply.

Food and Meal Access

During this extended break, the city has organized meal distribution for all students. Families can use the Boston.Gov website to find the best location for them to pick-up lunch and breakfast. We also created a list of Meal Resources For Families (Espanol, Kreyòl Ayisyen, Portuguese).

Below is a list showing the closest distribution site to each Brooke School:

If any family still has concerns about access to meals for their children, please reach out to your school’s Director of Operations and they will work with you to see how we can best assist. Their contact information is below:

Brooke teachers and principals will share their thoughtful plans for distance learning with families directly.  If you are a Brooke family that needs a Chromebook, needs internet access, or has questions on their scholars’ school work, please contact your scholar’s teacher directly. Here are a few more resources to support distance learning during for college students and Brooke families:

Brooke Staff Healthcare

In cooperation with Harvard Pilgrim, Brooke has adjusted our health insurance plans to help combat the growing spread of COVID-19. Below is a list of plan changes to help offset costs associated with COVID-19 testing and treatment. These changes are in effect as of Monday, March 16th.

Plan Changes

  • COVID-19 Testing – covered in full (including office, urgent care, and emergency room visits for COVID-19 testing).
  • COVID-19 Treatment – covered with no copay. Applicable deductible and coinsurance apply.
  • Telemedicine – covered in full for any reason.
  • Members will have access to out-of-network providers for the initial COVID-19 test when no in-network providers are available.
  • No prior authorization and referrals are required, where applicable, so that members can get timely medically necessary testing and treatment for COVID-19.

If you have any questions about your coverage, please reach out to Harvard Pilgrim’s member services line: 888-333-4742.
