Prior to Brooke, Ms. Mathieu worked with the Cambridge Camping Association and with students with special needs at the New England Center for Children. Ms. Mathieu joined the Brooke Roslindale community in 2008 as a Kindergarten Associate Teacher. She then taught Kindergarten for two years before becoming a founding teacher at the Brooke Mattapan campus in 2011 teaching first grade and kindergarten. She then served as Assistant Principal working with grades K-2 at Brooke Mattapan.

Ms. Brysh joined the Brooke Mattapan team in 2011 as a founding first grade teacher. She then became a founding first grade teacher at Brooke East Boston in 2012. Before moving to Boston, she taught first grade at Excellence Boys Charter School in Brooklyn, NY for three years. Ms. Brysh began her teaching leading a Kindergarten classroom for one year at Cleveland’s Lighthouse Community School. After completing an instructional leadership fellowship at Brooke, Ms. Brysh served as Assistant Principal working with grades K-2.

Ms. Deck earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Vanderbilt University in elementary and special education.  She taught special education in Atlanta, GA followed by teaching third grade for four years at a pilot school in Aurora, CO.  In 2013, she became a teacher leader for English Language Acquisition in addition to teaching third grade.  Ms. Deck is thrilled to be a part of the Brooke East Boston fourth grade team.

Ms. Vasquez joined the Brooke Mattapan team in May 2013. Before joining the Brooke Mattapan, Ms. Vasquez worked for Action for Boston Community Development as the Assistant to the Head Start Director. After completing an Operations Fellowship, Ms. Vasquez became the Director of Operations for the Brooke Mattapan campus.

After graduating from the University of Connecticut in 2012, Ms. Valle completed a year of AmeriCorps service in the city of Chelsea. She continued to work in the Chelsea and East Boston area, focused on serving immigrant and underserved youth and families. She is excited to join Brooke!

Ms. Spera joined Brooke as an Associate Teacher after earning her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Education Studies at Mount Holyoke College. While at Mount Holyoke, Ms. Spera worked in the dorms as a member of the Residential Life staff and volunteered with the local YWCA chapter. Ms. Spera has worked with students in various settings, including working as a summer camp counselor and dorm parent at Fay School and as a classroom helper at the Marlborough Early Childhood Center. Ms. Spera taught for three years at Brooke Mattapan and is excited to be a part of the East Boston kinder team!

Ms. Williams joined the Brooke East Boston team in 2017 as a kindergarten teacher. Before moving to Boston, she taught multi-age kindergarten and first grade at Audubon Park Elementary in Orlando, Florida for three years and taught first grade in Camden, New Jersey for two years. Ms. Williams studied elementary education at Burlington, Vermont and received training in arts integration at a local magnet school. Ms. Williams is excited to be working with our youngest Brooke scholars in East Boston!

Ms. Basak graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009 with a degree in International Studies and German. She was a 2009 Teach For America corps member in Chicago, while also earning her Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Elementary Education. While in Chicago, she taught second grade for five years as a founding member of a charter school. Ms. Basak joined Brooke East Boston as a founding third grade teacher and is excited to be a part of the first grade team.

Ms. Rossetti joined the Brooke East Boston team in 2016 as a second grade Associate Teacher. Ms. Rossetti enjoyed the associate program immensely and learned a lot from her mentor and peers. After spending six months as an associate, Ms. Rossetti moved into a first grade lead teaching position. Ms. Rossetti is excited to be teaching first grade again this year. Before working at Brooke, Ms. Rossetti worked at the Trinity College Community Childcare Center for four years as an assistant teacher. Ms. Rossetti loves singing, reading, and musical theater.

Ms. Schroll joined the Brooke East Boston team in 2016 as maternity coverage for third grade and as the third grade Associate Teacher. In September, she then transitioned into a part-time first grade co-teacher role at Brooke East Boston. In 2017, she took on a lead first grade position. Before starting at Brooke, she completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Emmanuel College.  This year, Ms. Schroll is thrilled to join the first grade team full time at Brooke East Boston!

Mr. Stanton started at Brooke East Boston in 2012 as a founding member of the fifth grade team. From 2012-2015 Mr. Stanton was part of the Brooke East Boston fifth grade team. In 2015 he moved to Providence, Rhode Island and worked as a third, fourth, and fifth grade teacher in the New Bedford Public School system until 2017. He is extremely excited to be back at Brooke East Boston, and to be a part of the second grade team!

She graduated from the program in 2009, with an Early Childhood (PK-3) Certification. Most recently, Ms. Constant was a member of the founding staff at KIPP Central City Primary in New Orleans, LA. Over her five years there, she taught kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. This year, Ms. Constant will return as a second grade teacher for the Brooke East Boston team.

Ms. Castellini graduated from the University of Canberra in Canberra, Australia. She completed a Master’s of Science Education program through Northeastern State University which has a cohort with the NASA endeavor program for a STEM Leadership Certificate. Ms. Castellini has worked as a 5th/6th grade math and science teacher, 3rd/4th grade multi-age classroom teacher, 3-6 science and social studies teacher, and a 3rd grade classroom teacher. She is very excited to return to her role as the 3rd-5th grade science teacher at Brooke East Boston!

Mrs. Shabranae Patton graduated from Texas Woman’s University with her degree in Government and Sociology, and is currently completing her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She comes to Brooke from Texas, where she taught all elementary grade levels minus 5th and 1st for the last 5 years. She mostly recently taught 6th grade ELA, Science, and Social Studies. Both her husband and two children ages 4 and 10 relocated to Boston this summer, and she is thrilled to be teaching a Brooke East Boston.

Ms. Belle comes to Brooke with a background in teaching and social work.  She began her teaching career in the Bronx, where she taught sixth grade with the New York Teaching Fellows program.  She then went back to school and earned a degree in Social Work. Ms. Belle’s work in the field focused on helping adults cope with substance abuse and coexisting disorders.  She is excited to be back in the classroom as a sixth grade ELA and social studies teacher.

Ms. O’Brien joined the Brooke Mattapan team in 2012 after having taught middle school Social Studies in California. She taught seventh and eighth grade for two years at the Hillbrook School in Los Gatos, CA and then spent a year teaching sixth and seventh grade Social Studies at the Brandeis Hillel Day School in San Francisco. Additionally, Ms. O’Brien completed the Shady Hill Teaching Training Course in conjunction with her M.Ed at Tufts University. This year, she will return to Brooke East Boston to teach eighth grade ELA and Social Studies.

Mr. Wallace graduated from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) with his degree in Sociology. Throughout his time in school, most of his research focused on educational disparities between inner city and suburban students. Mr. Wallace also spent a year as an assistant kindergarten teacher in Columbus, Ohio where he helped create lesson plans and educate children with elementary subjects. He was also a Camp Director for two summers by coordinating camp activities and trips for the campers.

Ms. Judd has been doing her best to increase access to computer science since falling in love with programming in high school. She’s done this through volunteering with Girl Scouts, FIRST robotics, Bootstrap and Citizen Schools, teaching 4th-8th graders and 7th-10th graders, and developing curriculum for Google CS First and Girls Who Code. She is excited to teach Computer Science to all the second through seventh graders!

She will return to Brooke East Boston to teach Movement Arts and Dance.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Mr. Flowers plans to inspire and nurture scholar’s musical growth and instill a lifelong love and understanding of music using a unique combination of in-class teaching, directorial, and playwright experience coupled with four and a half years in music engineering and visual media. Remaining true to his multi-ethnic roots and southern demeanor, he wants everyone he encounters to feel a sense of cultural values, academic appreciation, and readiness to lead our future (scholars) beyond tomorrow.

Ms. Price joined the Brooke Mattapan team in March 2017 as an Associate Teacher for second grade. Before coming to Brooke, she served in the Peace Corps, as a Youth Development Coordinator in Costa Rica for 27 months. While in the Peace Corps she helped build the only library in the rural community. Ms. Price has worked with children of all ages, from new born to 18 years of age. Ms. Price has recently completed her graduate studies in educational studies. Ms. Price is delighted to join Brooke this year as an Associate Teacher for second grade!

Sra. Casillas has been part of the Brooke East Boston team since 2014 as the Spanish Teacher. Prior to Brooke, Sra. Casillas was a teacher in Puerto Rico for seven years. She served as an elementary school Special Education and regular PE teacher.  She completed her education in Puerto Rico before she moved to Boston in 2006. She worked as a Lead Teacher in Jamaica Plain Head Start and two years in BPS. She loves the Spanish language and culture. She looks forward to inspiring children to continue to study Spanish throughout their elementary school years and beyond. Keep Calm and Speak Spanish!

Mrs. Silberstein is joining the Brooke team following graduation from Northeastern University in 2018 with an advanced degree (CAGS) in School Psychology. Previously, she spent her practicum and internship years in Arlington and Lawrence Public Schools, respectively. She has the opportunity to work with students of all ages as Brooke East Boston’s School Psychologist.

Ms. Atkins joined the Brooke East Boston team in 2016 as a fourth grade Associate Teacher. Prior to joining Brooke, Ms. Atkins taught English in Chile for two years. She also spent a year teaching at an elementary school in Montbello, Colorado as a Blueprint Math Fellow. Ms. Atkins is incredibly excited to be joining of the Student Support team this year as an ELL Coordinator!

Ms. Emery joined the Brooke East Boston team after teaching in Colorado for two years. In her first year of teaching at a turn around school she taught second grade Special Education. She moved on to teach sixth grade Special Education and coach cross country at Denver School of Science and Technology. Ms. Emery was a 2013 Teach for America corps member.

Ms. Pomer graduated Providence College in 2013 with a degree with Elementary and Special Education. While student teaching in both a 2nd grade and self-contained special education classroom she tutored and mentored Middle School students as part of the Breakthrough Providence after school program. She spent last year teaching 3rd grade reading classes and Special Education at Achievement First Charter School in New Haven, CT. Ms. Pomer is joining the Brooke East Boston Team this year as a Student Support Coordinator.

Ms. Lombardo joined the Brooke East Boston team in 2015 as High School Placement Manager, and then became the Student Engagement Coordinator & School Translator in 2016. Before coming to Brooke, Ms. Lombardo was living and working in Buenos Aires, Argentina as the Assistant Director of Student Life for NYU’s Global Office at the Buenos Aires campus where she worked with college students studying abroad and assisting them with housing, immigration, cultural acculturation, field trips, counseling, event planning, discipline and more!  Ms. Lombardo is happy to be part of the Operations Team at Brooke East Boston!

She had been over for over a year at Willow Path Childcare where she learned a lot about childcare and the responsibility that comes with that. She is very excited to able to work in a new job field where she will learn the importance of helping children that attend a charter school.
