Rebecca Auritt returns
to Brooke the year as a first grade co-teacher. Ms. Auritt joined
the Brooke community last year as the first grade associate teacher,
and this year she will be co-teaching first grade with Ms. Lee and
serving as the first grade associate teacher in other classrooms as
well.

Crista Ayer teaches art to all of our kindergarten through 8th grade
students. Ms.
Ayer has taught art to students in
elementary and middle schools in Maine
and in Chelsea, MA.

Mr. Carey
joined our staff is 2007 to launch
the school's music program. Mr. Carey has
extensive experience in world music and has been teaching music to the

in the Bay Area in California

Chelsea Consul

Chelsea Consul is joining the Brooke community this year. Ms.
Consul began her teaching career by teaching kindergarten in Las Vegas,
Nevada. Last year, she taught second grade at Community Day
Charter Public School in Lawrence, and we welcome her to our second
grade team this year. Ms. Consul is a 2006 Teach For America
corps member.
Elizabeth Daniels

Liz Daniels
joined the Brooke staff in 2007 as a second grade teacher and then
taught third grade last year. This year, Ms.
Daniels is teaching fourth grade and developing the fourth grade math
curriculum. Ms. Daniels taught
3rd and 5th grade in Atlanta.
Ms.
Daniels is a 2005 Teach For America corps member.

Forrest

Alex Forrest joined our staff in 2007
as a second
grade associate teacher, after graduating from the University
of
Michigan in Ann Arbor. This year will be
the second year that Mr.
Forrest will serve as a third grade classroom teacher.
Sabrina Forte

Sabrina
Forte joined Brooke in 2008 as a third grade associate teacher.
She graduated from Harvard
College, where she concentrated in History and Literature.
During college, Ms. Forte directed the Refuge
Youth Summer Enrichment program and served as a leader in Harvard Model
Congress.
Amir Francois

Amir Francois joins the Brooke community this year
after working at Nobles and Greenough School as a Diversity Initiatives
Teaching Fellow. As such, Ms. Francois taught two sections of
middle school science, worked on school-wide diversity initiatives,
developed study skills courses, and coached several sports.

Jenn Gondek joined the Brooke family as a
first grade teacher and last year she began serving as our
elementary student
support teacher. Before joining us, she

Kyle Kennedy
moved back to her hometown of Boston last year to join the
Brooke community. Ms. Kennedy taught first
grade in the Bronx for two years in a New York
City
Public School and then taught second grade here last year.

Katherine Kirby

Katherine Kirby is joining us as a second grade associate teacher after
spending several weeks at Brooke last year during an internship.
Ms. Kirby just completed her degree in Education and Child Study,
during which she completed student teaching experiences in 3rd and 5th
grade.

Katie Lee joined
the Brooke community last year
after graduating from the Risk and Prevention Program at the Harvard

School of Education. Ms. Lee taught
first grade for two years in New York City. Ms.
Lee is a 2005 Teach For America corps member. She will be
co-teaching this year with Rebecca Auritt.
Jorge Martinez

Jorge Martinez returns to Brooke for his sixth year. After
serving as middle school Dean of Students for several years, last year
he began serving as the Dean of Students for all students, K - 8.
Prior to joining Brooke, Mr. Martinez worked at Cathederal High School
and Boston Renaissance Charter School.
Elza
Mathieu
Teacher, Kindergarten

Elza Mathieu joined the
Brooke community last year
as the kindergarten associate teacher, and she is returning to
kindergarten this year as a classroom teacher. Prior to working
at Brooke, Ms. Mathieu worked with the Cambridge Camping
Association and
with children with special needs at the New England Center for Children. Ms. Mathieu is currently pursuing her Master's
degree.
Cristie McGrath

Ms. McGrath joined the Brooke staff in 2005 as the Dean of Student
Life, and she is currently serving as the Director of Student
Support. Prior to joining the EWBCS staff, she served as the math
coordinator and a 6th and 7th grade math teacher at a Boston Public
School. She also served as a special education department head
and taught special education classes at Toll Middle School in Glendale,
CA.
Karimah
Moreland
Dance Teacher

Karimah Moreland is returning for her seventh year as the dance teacher
at Brooke. Previously, she taught at the Shaw Elementary School in
Dorchster. Originally from the Bronx, Ms. Moreland is also a
professional actress in Boston.
Katie Ouellette

Katie Ouellette is a founding teacher at Brooke elementary; she joined
the Brooke staff in 2006 as a first grade teacher. Before that,
Ms. Ouellette taught first
grade at the Mystic Valley
Regional Charter School for 5 years
and served as the first grade lead for two of those years. In her
last year at Mystic Valley, she served as the Professional
Development Coordinator for
kindergarten through third grade.
Caitlin Porter

Caitlin
Porter joined the EWBCS community in 2007 a first grade teacher, and
this year she is teaching third
grade for the second time. Ms. Porter
previously taught third
grade in
the Bronx in a New York City Public School (C.S. 44).

member.
Collin Radix-Carter

Kindergarten
B.A., Boston College
Collin Radix-Carter is joining Brooke this year after spending many
years in early childhood education. Mr. Radix-Carter taught
kindergarten at Cathedral Grammar School in 2003-2004. He then
worked for several years in a preschool setting, first as a teacher and
then as a day care director. Mr. Radix-Carter is also pursuing
his Masters in Education at Simmons College.
Erica Ramberg

Erica Ramberg moved from Texas to join
the Brooke family two years ago as
our kindergarten associate teacher. This
will be her second year as a kindergarten teacher with us.
Ms. Ramberg previously worked with KIPP Shine
in Houston and for New Visions for
Public
Schools in New York.

Sayer

Emily Sayer joined the
Brooke family in 2008 as an associate teacher for the second grade
after
graduating from the University
of Chicago, where
she
received both her bachelor’s degree in Biology and her master’s degree
from the
Urban Teacher Education Program. This year, Ms. Sayer is working
with the same group of students as a third grade teacher.
Ms.
Sayer has worked with all grade levels from first to fifth grade.

Scott

Colin Scott is a
founding teacher in the elementary school. He joined
the Brooke staff in 2006 as a
first grade associate teacher, and he is now serving as a second grade
teacher for the third year. Mr. Scott
joined us after
working in a variety of schools in the Boston
area.

Ms. Slabich joined our elementary staff
two years ago
after having taught in Los
Angeles, California
for the past five
years. Previsouly, Ms. Slabich taught
ESL to high schoolers and also pre-school in the Dominican Republic. Ms. Slabich was a 2002 Teach For America
Corps Member. Ms. Slabich has taught kindergarten
here for the past two years, and this year she is moving with her
students to first grade.

Wendy Soref joined
the Brooke staff last year
after graduating from the Language and Literacy masters program at
Harvard. Ms. Soref taught for three
years in Arkansas,
teaching a year of second grade and two years of kindergarten. Ms. Soref is a 2004 Teach For America corps
member. This will be Ms. Soref's fourth year as a kindergarten
teacher.

Steadman

Ms. Steadman returns to EWBCS for her sixth year. Ms. Steadman
joined the Brooke staff in 2004, when she served as a lead teacher,
math teacher, and professional development coordinator. She then
spent the next school year planning the elementary school, which opened
in August of 2006. Prior to
joining EWBCS, she worked as a 5th grade teacher for the Chelsea Public
Schools and as a 4th grade teacher in Washington, DC. Ms. Steadman was
a 1997 Teach for America corps member.

Katie Stevens
is a founding teacher in the elementary school, and she
is returning to Brooke this
year as a fourth grade teacher. Ms.
Stevens joined the Brooke staff after teaching fifth and sixth grade
students
in New York Public Schools. Here, Ms. Stevens has taught
kindergarten for two years and second grade for one year.
While teaching, Ms. Stevens also
worked to receive her Masters of General Childhood Education. She was a 2004 Teach For America corps
members.
Amy Sutter

Amy Sutter joined
the Brooke family last year
after moving here from Mississippi,
and she is returning this year in her role of a first grade teacher. Ms. Sutter has also taught kindergarten and
third grade. Ms.
Sutter is also an accomplished flutist. She
was a 2006 Teach For America corps member.
Meghan Thornton

Meghan Thornton
finished her masters in Early
Childhood Education in June of 2006 and joined our kindergarten team as
a founding member of the elementary staff that year. After
teaching the same group of students for the last two years in
kindergarten and first grade, Ms. Thornton is returning to kindergarten
this year to work with a new class. Ms.
Thornton has also worked in classrooms in Manchester,
MA, Lewiston,
Maine, and New York City.
Jeffrey Venter

Jeff Venter is returning for his sixth year at EWBCS as the physical
education teacher. Previously, he worked at the Donald McKay School in
Boston. Mr. Venter also runs Students Athletes Rising and is the
middle school basketball coach.

Abby Waldman moved to Boston last year
to join the Brooke family. Ms. Waldman
taught
third grade for two years in Las
Vegas,
and she also served as the grade level chair. Ms.
Waldman is a 2006 Teach For America corps member.
Jes Weren

Grade

Jes Weren is joining EWBCS this year after completing the MATCH teacher
training program, which prepares teachers to work in charter schools
with high academic and behavior expectations. Ms. Weren also
served as a MATCH Corps Member, tutoring high school students and
working with history and language arts classes.
Kristin Wiens

Kristin Wiens joined Brooke in 2008 as the 5th and 6th grade science
teacher, and this year, she is moving grade levels to work with our
elementary students. Ms. Wiens came to EWBCS after earning a
Masters Degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Previously, Ms. Wiens taught high school math for two years at North
Central High School in Lebeau, LA. Ms. Wiens is a 2005 Teach For
America corps member.

Ms. Adamczyk
serves EWBCS as our
Director of Operations. Ms. Adamczyk
began her teaching career in North Carolina, where she taught high
school
math. She joined the Brooke community in
2004 and taught fifth and then eight grade for three years. Ms. Adamczyk received her Masters in Education Policy
and Management and then returned to Brooke to serve in her current
role. Ms. Adamczyk is a 2002 Teach For America corps member.
Francis Cash
Director of Finance and Technology
B.A., Fordham University
Francis Cash is the Founding Director of Operations at EWBCS. Prior to
coming to EWBCS, he worked as a financial advisor with American
Express. His professional experience also includes a stint as
owner/operator of a bookstore in New York City, and two years as an art
teacher.
Jon Clark
Co-Director, Middle School Principal
B.A., Oberlin College
Jon Clark is a founder and the first principal at EWBCS. He assumed the
role of Executive Director in 2005. Prior to
coming to EWBCS, he was a founding teacher at South Boston Harbor
Academy where he also served as math department chair for four years.
Mr. Clark also taught junior high school math for two years in Belle
Chasse, Louisiana and worked as a researcher for a professor of
International Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Rene
DeStefano

Ms. DeStefano
joined the EWBCS staff last year as Program Manager. Previously,
Ms. DeStefano worked at The Food and Drug Law Institute in Washington,
D.C. as a program
and conference coordinator. Additionally, Rene has experience as
a swim
instructor, camp counselor, and Big Sister mentor in the Boston
area.
Sandra Marques
Office Manager
Rindge and Latin School
Ms. Marques returns for her sixth year as office manager. Prior
to coming to EWBCS, she worked as a sales and service representative
for Fleet Bank and as a manager at J. Silver Clothing.
Charles Peters
Facility Manager
Tewksbury High School
Mr. Peters joined the EWBCS staff in 2005 as the building manager,
supporting the building's expansion into a full middle school and the
addition of an elementary school. Prior to coming
to EWBCS, Mr. Peters worked at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton
as its building manager and for the Wingate nursing homes.
