History and Mission

The original Brooke school located in Roslindale was founded in 2002 and has quietly grown into one of the highest performing schools in the city and the state.  At Brooke, students are closing the achievement gap and exceeding expectations for even Massachusetts’ highest performing students.  On the 2011 MCAS:

  • Our 8th graders ranked #1 in the state in both math and ELA.
  • Our 7th graders ranked #1 in the state in ELA and #2 in the state in math.
  • Our 7th graders ranked #1 in the state in the open-ended Composition. Their combined scores were the highest in the 10-year history of the MCAS.
  • Our 5th graders ranked #1 in the state in ELA.

After the transformative Brooke experience, our alumni are excelling in high school and college, attending and succeeding in schools like Milton Academy, Boston Latin Academy, and University of Massachusetts – Amherst.

The founding group is committed to bringing this same opportunity for an excellent education to more Boston families by opening Brooke Mattapan and Brooke East Boston schools.
