Evidence of Success
2007 MCAS Results
 |
Edward W. Brooke Charter School
students, at all grade levels, continued to post impressive scores on
the Massachusetts
Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests in 2007.
In particular,
our 8th grade students, who have been at EWBCS since their 5th grade
year, posted exceptional results that matched or exceeded the
performance of students at competitive exam schools and high-performing
suburban school districts. |
With the exception of 5th grade, our entry and “catch-up” year,
our students earn scores in the advanced and proficient range that
surpass both state and city averages in nearly all subject areas.
By 8th grade, our students earn scores that significantly exceed the
average counterpart in Boston and across Massachusetts.
- 75% of our 8th grade students scored
advanced or proficient in Math, making us the 4th-highest ranked
non-exam public school in all of Boston, ahead of Boston Latin
Academy and John D. O’Bryant.
-
45% of our 8th graders scored
advanced and proficient in science, making us the 4th-highest
scoring school in Boston, placing us ahead of all three Boston
exam schools Boston Latin School, Boston Latin Academy, and John D.
O’Bryant School.
