Principal Fellows
Want to lead your own Brooke school? Become a Principal Fellow and learn how.
As we grow, we’ll need new leaders to take the helm at each of our new schools. We plan to identify and train future Brooke Principals and Assistant Principals in-house through a rigorous Principal Fellow program.
Principal Fellows spend a year being closely mentored by our Co-Director of Instruction, who will guide you in developing an individualized development plan to prepare you for a school leader role. To deliver the kind of great teaching that closes the achievement gap, we need instructional leaders who are highly effective in supporting their teachers to succeed. The Principal Fellows program plays a key role in preparing that kind of leader.
As a Principal Fellow, you will spend one year learning about the Brooke model of excellent instruction and teacher professional development. Responsibilities include a full or part-time teaching load in any grade or subject (teaching assignments will be made with the purpose of expanding instructional knowledge of the candidate, not merely for the purpose of filling vacancies). During this year, in addition to teaching, Principal Fellows will:
- Lead professional development sessions and data meetings
- Directly manage the performance of one grade level team
- Join principals for weekly observations and follow-up feedback
- Participate in weekly leadership team meetings.
Candidates who successfully complete the Fellowship will begin the following year as a Principal or Assistant Principal at a Brooke K-8 school.
Principal Fellows must have a requisite 1 year as a Brooke Classroom Teacher and at least four years total of teaching experience across grade levels in K-12 schools before beginning the Fellowship.

Closing the achievement gap.
