Academic Programs

Achieve - Noble and Greenough School:  Tuition-free educational program that seeks to increase students’ academic skills, motivation and self-confidence while preparing them for college.  Students improve academic skills, learn to swim, and receive continuing support throughout the school year.  Commitment starts the summer after 5th grade and continues through the summer before 8th grade.

MIT Science of Baseball - MIT Campus, Cambridge: Program for 8th grade boys who love baseball, and are curious about how geometry, physics, probability and statistics play a part in running, hitting, fielding and throwing.  Combines science classes and baseball training.

MIT STEM Program - MIT Campus, Cambridge:  A math/science program offering courses in geometry, physics, robotics, sports and more.  Also provides one-on-one mentoring throughout the school year.

LINK:  Algebra and Lego Robotics - Mission Hill School, Roxbury:  Two-week program where students learn algebra in the morning and build robots in the afternoon.  Run by researchers at Tufts University.

Project RISE - Thayer Academy, Braintree8 week program for academic achievement and recreation.  Offers electives such as tennis, swimming, flag football, gymnastics, crafts, computers, the beach and more.

Balfour Academy - Northeastern UniversityCollege Prep at a very special level.  Six week summer program enhanced by tutoring throughout the school year.  Provides support all through high school.

Young Achievers Summer Institute - Huntington Ave YMCAProgram for rising 8th graders.  Youth build self-esteem, leadership and networking skills, all while learning about colleges and careers.  Exciting hands-on opportunities.

LEAD – Boston University AcademyIncorporates fun, exciting classes with activities and field trips.  Aimed to develop students’ academic and leadership skills.
 
Sports Programs

Community Boating - Charles River near MGH
: Learn basic sailing, windsurfing or kayaking on the Charles River.

Metro Lacrosse: Four-week lacrosse day camp for youth who are entering 4th to 7th grade in the fall of 2009.

G-Row BostonCrew camp for girls – learn rowing and racing skills.
 
Boston Neighborhood Soccer League - West Roxbury7 vs. 7 soccer league.  Teams play in city-wide tournament at end of the summer.

Bikes Not Bombs Earn-A-Bike - Jamaica PlainLearn how to maintain bicycles and create new inventions from bike parts.  BNB’s programs also involve bike journeys, leadership development and environmental stewardship.

Tenacity:   Summer reading and tennis program.  You will learn to play or improve your game, compete with others and other teams.

Boston Youth Fund’s Hopeline:  Summer job work program for Boston teens, ages 15-17.

The Food Project: Learn about sustainable agriculture and work at local farms in greater Boston.
