Assessment
In addition to traditional classroom assessment measures, we use
several other assessment tools to evaluate the progress of our
students:
Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System.
So that students are held to the same standards as other students in
the Commonwealth, Edward W. Brooke Charter School administer in grades
3 to 8, the MCAS in reading, writing, mathematics, science and
technology, and history and social science, to demonstrate both
school-wide and individual student progress. Exams are generally given
in April and May and results reported in November. See our most
recent MCAS results here.
Progress Reports, Report Cards, and School-Parent
Meetings. Teachers and staff will use progress reports and
report cards to communicate students' academic and behavioral
performance. Progress reports and report cards will be sent home with
students to be signed by their parents and brought back to school the
next school day. In certain circumstances, a student's report card or
progress report may not be distributed in class and may need to be
picked up at the school by the student's parent or guardian. Parents
will also be expected to meet with their children's teachers during the
three Family-Teacher Conferences held each year. |
